Same Thing We Do Every Night, Pinky... Rather than fight with my scanner, you can actually check out some of the ones of the Ice Hotel and stuff on Steve's photo website... http://uk.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/steve_ My trip was brilliant...if I can ever figure out how to get my scanner working, I'll post some pics (especially of the Ice Hotel, which was the most amazing thing I've ever seen...which is a pretty big compliment coming from someone from the land of snow and ice!). The guys were in top form...brilliant hosts. I took over a bottle of Morgan's for them(since they can't get it there...damn Swedes!) which was drunk in its entirety in one night, leading to many impromptu snow angels, a trip to "Exotic" pizza (where the pizza is anything but!), and at least one inquiry as to the whereabouts of the rum a la Pirates of the Carribean. My thoughts on Sweden? Hmmmm... Well, it's bloody expensive, particularly at pubs (I paid 12 Canadian dollars for a pint at the Stockholm airport...which is about 5 quid)...the Swedish language is very, very bouncy (think Swedish Chef on the Muppet Show)...the women are drop-dead gorgeous...the streets are very clean...the men have dodgy haircuts...they eat a LOT of meatballs...everything looks like it was purchased at IKEA...NHL rules are better than European ones (what's a hockey game with no fights...sucker-puches like Bertuzzi's excepted, of course!)...yeah, I think that's about it... Well, onto other Tabby news...I'm going to school in Ireland next year...doing my Masters in International Human Rights Law at the Irish Centre for Human Rights in Galway...very excited! Work is good. Ummm, can't think of anything else... Right...that's me for now! Current mood: Hello everybody...god it's been bloody ages since I updated! Well, a few probably know where I'm updating from, but for those who don't, I'm in Lulea, Sweden with Steven and Pete. So far I've been here for 5 days, and I'm here for almost another week. It's been amazing, the country's really pretty, and it's so great to see the guys again. They've been fab hosts (but of course!) We've done the whole sightseeing thing, though I've been on my own for the past few days as the guys have been in class, but tomorrow we're going to the Ice Castle, which promises to be all kinds of cool! Right, well no sense trying to update on the rest of the Tabby goings-on as it's been so long, but rest assured all is well. Right, I'll let you all know how the rest of the trip goes. Ciao! Current mood: [x] Pick up the nearest book and write a sentence at random from it: “The UN’s ‘blue helmets’ won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1988; since then, they have brought peace and democracy to Namibia, Cambodia, El Salvador, Mozambique, and East Timor; helped ease the U.S burden after regime changes in Haiti and Afghanistan; and policed largely bloodless stalemates from Cyprus to the Golan Heights to Western Sahara” (My god, even in my gap year I’m still a nerd!) [x] Do you like having your picture taken? You betcha, though I’m not always pleased with the results. [x] Ever bought a CD for just one song?: More times than I would care to count. [x] If you could only talk to one person online, who would that be?: Manda, of course…though the jello conversations with Steve amuse me to no end… [x] What color is the inside of your head when you close your eyes? Purple, I think. [x] Do you find you use internet language when writing notes in real life? On occasion, depends on the general level of apathy I’m suffering from at the time [x] When you're talking do you ever use your hands to do quotation marks in the air when saying certain words? Ooohhh yeah…I talk with my hands waaayyy too much…it’s the lawyer in me coming out! [x] Ever seriously questioned your sanity? You mean in the last five minutes… [x] When you dream do you see what's happening in a character's view or a camera type view: Character, always character [x] Have you ever kept a New Year's resolution? Nope, my willpower sucks [x] Who has the best taste in music out of all your friends?: Hands down Raquel [x] What is your school mascot?: It was the Tasmanian Devil in high school; my uni mascot was a raven [x] Do you wish your teeth were whiter?: Hell yeah, but that’s probably only because of the recent deluge of ads telling us to have whiter teeth…damn marketers [x] Do you laugh at your own jokes? Yep…annoying ain’t it? [x] What word instantly makes you smile? Fugee…great word, I’m giggling right now [x] How many phone numbers do you have remembered and can say off the top of your head? More than I can count; I’ve got a great memory for numbers [x] What was the best Halloween costume you ever had? I once dressed up as a genie, that was pretty cool, though I think my slightly slutty peacock this year will likely take the cake…you should see the tail I’ve made out of feathers! [x] Can you limbo? Not even in a past life… [x] You're a vampire; what's worse, never seeing a photo/reflection of yourself, never being able to eat or drink what's not blood, or never seeing sunlight again? I kinda like the sun…the pasties give me the creeps… [x] Do you say random stuff like "I like Snickers" when you are having a conversation about something totally different?: It’s been known to happen. [x] Name all the Teletubbies right now: Never, ever watched them [x] Would you ever call someone a racist name?: No [x] Do you think Vlad is a cool name? Sure, why the hell not… [x] What do you think is going to take over humans and rule the world?: Shoe throwers… [x] What is your IQ?: Not sure; don’t think I want to know. [x] Have you ever killed your own dinner? I guess fish count, so hell yeah! [x] Would you prefer a spork or a spoon and fork?: Spork [x] Favorite of the seven dwarves?: It’s all about Grumpy [x] Ever laughed so hard that what you were drinking spewed out of your nose?: No, I tend to spit it out first [x] Wasn't Josie and the Pussycats a stupid movie? Common misconception actually…truly it was a brilliant movie of the girly persuasion…Du Jour were classic, and nobody does ditzy quite like Tara Reid (side bar: the guy who plays the baddy agent in this one and is also the creepy guy from Circle of Friends should really get a new agent who might get him some better roles…I mean seriously, man…what were you thinking!) Oh, and a kick ass soundtrack to boot! [x] Wasn't Shrek an awesome movie? I particularly like the bit when they blow up the snake and the frog and use them as balloons… [x] Have you ever dissected a frog?: No, we dissected fetal pigs instead…named mine Wilbur [x] How long have you been living at your current residence?: Well, the family’s been here for 15 years, I haven’t lived here in 4, but on this run, I’ve been here for a month and a half…soon to move out again though Current mood: Sorry I've flaked out so completely on my journal as of late, been uber-busy, though not with anything exciting or random enough to realy put in a journal entry... Hope everyone is back at Uni safe and sound and getting drunk lots and lots. Promise not to be so flaky about the correspondence in the future...eep!!! Later! Current mood: Current music: washing machine sounds. Fill this out, leave it in my messages and ill do the same back for you... 01: what is your first memory of me: 02: how long have we been friends: 03: tell about one memory we share together: 04: describe me in four adjectives: 05: if we could spend a day together what would we do: 06: name one thing you really don't like about me: 07: name one thing you really do like about me: 08: if you could give me a gift what would it be: 09: have we ever gotten in a fight & about what: 10: have we ever hugged: 11: have we ever danced with each other: 12: have you ever seen me cry: 13: have i ever offended you: 14: what is something embarrassing that i've done: 15: what do i usually look like when you see me: 16: what do i say all the time\whats my catch phrase: 17: do you think we will be friends in 5 years: 18: do you think i am bitchy: 19: has there been anything you wanted to tell me, but didn't: 20: what advice would you give me, in general: 21: wanna make out: 22: suggest a band / cd for me to listen to: 23: is there a song that reminds you of me: Current mood: Matt Good rocks my world!!! That was the greatest concert ever. He's such an amazing artist, the lyrics and melodies are so haunting, and he actually stands for something. What a totally great night, I haven't felt this good in months and months. So, uh, yeah...gonna go enjoy it... Current mood: Current music: Matt Good - Underdogs. Yeah, so I was one of the 40 million or so that had no power...well my flat and my office building had none. My parent's place which is about 20 minutes outside the city never lost their power, since it is supplied by the province of Québec, not by Ontario. But I get a three-day weekend since there are no lights in my building. And it's bloody hot...32 degrees before factoring in any humidity...that's pretty dangerous for a lot of people who now have no air conditioning, or fans, or anything and whose bodies are accustomed to having them...also bad for my fridge and freezer, both now defrosted, leaving me with a whole pile of soon-to-be spoiled food. The funniest bit though is the blame game going on between the two governments. Jean says it's Dubya's fault and ol' Georgey says those damn canucks are to blame. So in response, we said fine have it your way, and disconnected our power grid from theirs, letting them sort out their own problems. Most of Ontario is back on now (I'm not sure about the US)...well, except for my flat where they're telling me a few days probably...but I just think it's funny that when the going gets tough, the big boys take their toys and go home. Current mood: From Rach's journal, April 18, 2003 (http://www.livejournal.com/users/theme "#2 The meaning of life - The ultimate aim of all humans should be coming up in a Google search - and it really be you. This is something that has taken millions of years of evolution of the human species to provide. Millions have already achieved this and are now living it up in a life of frivolity, merriness, and general blissfulness. All on a huge plateau of Ben and Jerrys ice cream. So if you fancy some half baked, or phish food hurry up and get google recognition then you can come and join me. Beer, spirits, etc are complimentary and hangovers are a thing only mere mortals must suffer..." Well, my dear, go to google and put in Tabatha Ann Tranquilla... Current mood: From 1) Which is worse a shoe thrower or a gratuitous ass grabber? (ok i stole it, but i want your take on this) Well, there have been many decisive opinions written on the subject (volumes, really) but I think the question here really comes down to intent... You see, the gratutitous ass-grabber is inevitably hammered; I, myself, have been known to reach for a nice bottom after a few aftershocks, and perchance an absinthe. It's more of a reflex than anything else. And really, the bottom is so often forgotten and unappreciated (all that sitting, you know) so can you truly bemoan a little attention now and then? The shoe-thrower, on the other hand, takes many forms. There is the loser at a concert who throws his shoe, then asks the bouncer at the front for it back. There are the twits at the rainbow show who want an autograph. And there are the closet shoe-throwers of yore, who once appeared out of the woodwork long ago in a corridor far, far away. This last type is obviously to be revered for their immense courage and beauty, and to be forgiven for this one act of ill-judgement; however, the same cannot be said for the first two types, who obviously are a cherry short of an ice cream sundae and must be removed fro the gene pool, post-haste. So I choose the ass-grabber. Flip-flop flingers are entirely another matter, however. 2) If you were to meet a person only once what is the one thing you would want them to remember about you? My boobs...definitely my boobs... No wait, that's not right. Ok, seriously though, i would want them to remember my smile; you can tell a lot about a person by the way they smile. A smile can embody warmth, sincerity, wit, and just about anything else. I hope that mine encompasses some of these things. 3) What does the perfect bridesmaid dress actually look like, and will they all get to wear the same one, or will the pretty bridesmaid make them wear some skanky-ho polyester things to make hers look even better? (but not quite as good as the brides, of course) Well, whatever Tammie picks out will be stunning; but mine or going to be beautiful...deep red with none of those frilly bits or chiffon or any ugly stuff like that... Or perhaps you get to wear sea-foam green, with big puffy sleeves and a bow...oh yeah, a great big draw-attention-to-your-ass-and-make-it-l 4) If you were to be a character out of either Sex in the City, ER, or Will and Grace which would you be and why? I'd be Karen...I think it would be fun to be that shallow. Really, I think I'd like to be Miranda, as she seems to display the characteristics I most admire...loyalty, honesty, intelligence, etc... Although getting all that Samantha action could be fun too...hmmmm... 5) What is the funniest joke you have ever heard and actually remembered? A piece of string walked into a bar... Current mood: Current music: I Tried to Rock You - Leona Ness. |
